1987 - 91m.

There's nary a "zombie" in sight in this poorly titled riff on The Stepford Wives.

Virginia Madsen plays a new student at prestigious private school Ettinger Academy who begins to wonder why most of the student body act robotic and distant. She soon finds that the school heads are age-old vampires who are using crystal microchips to control the students (and use them as a food source to keep them young).

This horror/comedy isn't a conventional "zombie" movie and is sort of tepid but at least the plot is mildly interesting and it's mostly watchable. Sure it gets a little stale at times and there's a really silly car chase but there's worse movies out there and Madsen does okay in the heroine role.

Gotta dig the alternate title and check out that really bad Beastie Boys-wannabe song in the end credits (it even tries to sound like "Fight For Your Right").
