Having given up on this series after part seven (and due to the fact they've been harder to find), I can't judge if this is better than those before it, but I can say it's more watchable than most of the series even if it gets too sloppy in the final third.
Three wannabe actresses (Miranda Odell, Lauren Ian Richards and Kathleen St. Laurence) are playing witches in a production of MacBeth. Well it's right about this time that the spirits of three witch sisters that were killed three-hundred years prior have decided to possess the nubile young girls and hunt for a key that can open the gateway to Hell.
Right from the opening sex scene we know this series hasn't changed its tone much, but with writer/director Ford at the helm at least there's more attempts at touches of humour than previous entries.
Unless you have a fairly big tolerance for seeing topless young women (who never doff their bottom-halves) in mostly lukewarm sex scenes with mostly older unattractive-looking men, or you can handle some so-so effects; then it's safe to say you shouldn't go out of your way to see this one. However, if you just must see the entire series (I think most people gave up after part three even) then you'll get to see Richards doing a fairly good job as the bitch character, a pen eye stab and Stephanie Beaton as a serious detective who can still find time to let her clevage hang-out.
