2001 - 92m.
Canada-Britain

After hating the second movie with all my being I wasn't expecting it to get any better. Well it is; but only by a little bit.

The biggest complaint people have had with this sequel is that Andrew Divoff doesn't return as the evil Djinn. Would you after the atrocious part two? No? Then shut-up.

Anyhow, seems that jewel that's been holding the Djinn captive falls into the hands of a college professor (Jason "Son Of Bond" Connery) and his star student (A.J. Cook) only to get free when Cook figures out how to open the puzzle box (shades of Hellraiser) it's encased in. This leads to frequent breakings of the "wish rules" the original set forward as the Djinn possesses the body of Connery and proceeds to wreak mighty havoc while going after Cook.

If you're expecting a rockin' sequel - you'll be disappointed. But if you expect a so-so second sequel to an original that was only moderately entertaining to begin with you'll be okay. Connery isn't bad taking over for Divoff and lead Cook is alright; but of course it's all the gore people will be wanting to see - and it's mostly cheesy (like the heart moment).

Sloppily plotted and continuing to fracture plot points set out in the original this still isn't too bad and plays at an okay pace - just don't expect much.

Who's decision was it to put in a techno-inspired score? Yuck.
