Director Robert Zemeckis was one of the people responsible for the cable TV resurrection of Tales From The Crypt, so you figure him at the helm of this supernatural big-studio thriller would already score it a hit. Well not quite.
Michelle Pfeiffer and Harrison Ford star as a fairly wealthy couple who are trying to fix-up a house they inherited only for Pfeiffer to start go quite nutty when she keeps having visions of a mysterious ghost. Of course people think she's having delusions but as she investigates things it all adds-up in the finale.
A bit slow starting, this is nonetheless a watchable time that could've benefitted from more suspense and "oomph" because up until the above average finale (that has a few moments of mild thrills) it's an adequate, if none-too-exciting, ghost story.
Some minor plot-holes, Zemeckis using loud noises for leaps and trying his best for creepiness and the fact that it takes a bit to start rolling makes this not quite as good as we could've expected; but it's still a decent film with steady acting and a finale that pays-off well enough for us to forgive some minor scripting flaws.
