Low-budget wannabe "urban" horror tale plays more like director/co-writer/producer/jack of all trades Daniel Zirilli grabbed some friends and a video camera and headed down to Mardi Gras in New Orleans to film a "how I spent my spring break" travelogue.
With a slender premise that has some college girls heading down to the yearly celebration only to get caught up with some voodoo practising baddies (who wear silly grim reaper costumes and carry curved blades); this is mostly a padded excuse for a movie that's filled with scenes of partying, scenery, the lead girls (who are fairly cute but can't act too well) getting changed a lot and even more partying. In fact I don't even have to go to Mardi Gras now... this movie gave me a damn guided tour!!
Now that's not to say the entire thing is a wash-out because it is oddly watchable but if you're looking for a horror film then go away since this simplistic movie doesn't even have any true horror until the poorly staged graveyard chase/kill sequence and a really feeble finale (with an even more feeble explanation for it all). Heck, we don't even get any nudity until the end (despite all the girls shedding their clothes throughout the entire movie!).
They should've went with the original title over the "hip" retitling.
