Obviously re-titled (most likely by distributor Asylum) to cash-in on the popularity of Freddy Vs. Jason - the title promises a heck of a lot more than it delivers.

Loosely based on J. Sheridan Le Fanu's classic story "Carmilla" this is a virtually plotless indie flick that throws out a sketchy premise about a virus that turns people into zombies, a father and daughter having to protect a girl called Carmilla from some vampires (little realizing she herself is one - which gives writer/director D'Amato the chance for some barely there Lesbian themes) and a grumpy vampire killer called "The General".

It's hard to give you a good idea of what the film was all about when I couldn't figure it out myself - it just felt like a mish-mash of ideas tossed together with even the zombies (who never once actually battle vampires) feeling like an after thought. The entire thing is sloppily put together, amateurishly acted (not as badly as a lot of indie flicks I've seen though) and lacking in so many ways (mostly entertainment and sense) that I can't recommend it even to the most forgiving of B-movie fans.

There's too little here for it to work, it's muddled and there's a bunch of pointless scenes in an asylum (I believe they were trying to make the entire thing feel like a flashback); in fact the only thing that is merely "okay" is an alright staking/axe moment early on. Heck, this even manages to waste former Screen Queen, Brinke Stevens, in a miniscule role (she has about four scenes tops).
