Originally released overseas in 1975 (even if the copyright date on the print I saw is dated 1978) this fifteenth Godzilla movie has some aliens out to take-over Toyko recruiting a mad scientist type so they can unleash a re-built Mechagodzilla and mind-controlled Titanasaurus on the helpless population. That is until the fire-breathing green guy shows to kick some monster tail.
Goofy with all the elements of a B-movie (poor effects, silly plot twists and very unserious) this marked the return of director Honda and he's made an okay entry that has more plot than usual (and it actually hangs sort of well together) and enough monster wrestling to please fans. 'Zilla doesn't join the party until the 46-minute mark. The last of the series for ten years!
Followed by Godzilla 1985.
Directed By: Ishiro Honda.
Written By: Yuhiko Takayama.
Starring: Katsuhiko Sasaki, Tomoko Ai, Akihiko Hirata, Katsumasa Uchida.
