1985 - 92m.

Michael J. Fox follows-up his huge hit, Back To The Future, with this lightweight comedy-horror flick that has him as a normal, everyday teenager who soon learns his family has werewolf genes in it and that he's the lucky recipient. Soon he's changing into a furry faced creature which is okay because it makes him popular, really good at basketball and irresistable to the ladies.

Low-budget comedy was a minor hit (it grossed over thirty-million) but despite being remembered fondly (for the most part) by people who saw it when growing-up (like myself) this is probably one of Fox's lesser-known lead roles. Most teen comedies with horror themes stink and the werewolf type haven't had a great history (look to 1981's Full Moon High for an example) but this is pretty watchable and goofy stuff with a likeable young cast, dopey wolf make-up on Fox and lots of watered down antics and dated moments to make it a nostalgic ride. Check out the "van surfing" moments for the pinnacle of "wildness" this movie gets to.

Ironically the sequel would also feature a young actor who co-starred in a hit sitcom in the lead (Fox was on Family Ties, the second movie featured Jason Bateman from Hogan Family).

Followed by a sequel and a Saturday morning cartoon series.
