Whoa, what's this doing coming from Troma?
Pretty classy and totally watchable low-budget horror/comedy tells the tale of a rock star vampire (Yan Birch) who enjoys sucking the blood of groupies. Well, after he contracts the AIDS virus he has to rely on wacky assistant (Alex Erkiletian) to take care of him.
Entertaining and dopey enough to be fun, but with a serious subplot (that of the disease and friendship that forms between the two); this is one of Troma's more polished films with good production values, a good cast (Erkiletian is a riot and completely likeable - stealing the movie) and more brains than you might expect.
Sure there's lots of low-brow humour and skin; but there's a script that shows wit and humanity - a rarity for Troma released flicks. Director/writer Rodionoff deserves respect and this is recommended for those looking for a change of pace.
There's a nice belly laugh when Erkiletian's character imitates Igor.
