2007 - 73m.

All I could think of when I was watching this movie was that if John Waters made a slasher flick in his early days, it would have ended up something like this. This flick pushes the limits of good taste but is done in a ridiculously campy manner so you can't help but laugh. Most horror and b-movie fans have seen numerous lesbians prance across the screen in our time but I believe that this is the first full-on gay male themed horror movie I have experienced. This is not a genre that would normally interest me and I know Dave DeCoteau has been exploiting males for a number of years but I can't imagine that DeCoteau would dare to show the cartoonish depravity that parades across the screen in this flick. Director T.S. Slaughter splashes the fluids with glee and the two male leads relish their parts with one of them seeming to channel the spirit of Divine at times.

Nathan (Derrick Wolf) and Justin (Michael Burke) are a couple who are having trouble in their sex life. A few things that still excite Nathan are twisted horror and revenge movies and serial killers. One morning their pillow talk turns nasty when they start to wonder what it would be like to commit some of the crimes they have read about. They proceed to hatch a plan to have their way with a fellow college student that they don't like. They entice him to come to their house for a few beers and then drug the guy and sodomize him. As they are amateurs, they make a mistake and their victim accidentally dies. Rather than learn a lesson, the two go on a bit of a killing spree after an encounter with four Ivy League frat boys who mouth them off. Our heroes proceed to kidnap the frat boys one by one, ram various items up their asses, sodomize, and then murder them. All of the jocks are lured to their death with alcohol and cocaine and this use of cliche made it all the more funny. Everything culminates when they encounter the final jock and turn him into a sex slave using a voodoo powder that was inspired by The Serpent and the Rainbow.

Obviously, if the thought of gay men offends you, you should get as far away from this movie as possible as it can be quite over the top at moments. There are plenty of male asses, lots of implied penetration by everything from a banana to a baseball bat to a human bone. There is also a close-up of pooh coming out of a bum some semen splatters across the screen a few times. I know it sounds pretty nasty but it comes across more like a Gwar concert than a gay porno and there is not a penis in sight which helps to make this accessible to the non-gay audience. I honestly can't believe I am giving this a good review but it was just so ridiculous that I couldn't stop watching. Things get even stranger when they start wearing masks during their deeds. It is a bizarre sight watching Osama Bin Laden and Saddam Hussein giving George Bush the business.

The two leads help a lot in making the film what it is as they seem to love being involved with the movie. Wolf hams it up with practically every line and, as I mentioned before, his voice and mannerisms sometimes reminded me of Pink Flamingos-era Divine (maybe this is the story of how Babs Johnson got started in becoming the filthiest person alive). Burke does not command the screen as much but definitely gets into the role and makes a lot of weird expressions with his face and eyes. I think he is trying to look intense but maybe this is just his way of hamming it up as well. It amused me nonetheless. Fans of b-movie cheese and low budget gore will probably think this is pretty funny if you can get past the tagline which promises a "tale of homo-cidal mania". Time will tell if Slaughter has the goods to tell a real story or if he is just a gross-out director who can't do more than shock and sicken. (Josh Pasnak, 6/6/10)
