2003 - 85m.

The Wayans stepped away from the horror spoof comedy franchise for this third entry, but Dimension made a wise move bringing in better pedigree in director David Zucker and co-writer Pat Proft (who have been involved with Airplane!, Kentucky Fried Movie and Naked Gun - among others) - which pays off as this is the best of the series and actually has more laughs than the first two films combined.

This joke-a-minute comedy plays mostly as a spoof of the American remake The Ring, Signs and 8 Mile and stars Anna Faris (who was in the first two), Charlie Sheen and a bunch of other familiar faces in cameo roles for the cobbled together story of a killer video tape, alien invaders and a farmer who wants to become a rap star.

With lots of amusing wordplay, slapstick and goofy moments I actually found myself quite enjoying this breezy 85 minute sequel. Sure, it's not meant to be overly brainy and it gets too silly at the end, but I had fun while it lasted and the hit-or-miss quotient leaned more towards jokes working than falling flat (a problem the first two movies suffered from).

It's not the funniest comedy ever made, it's not even close, but it's entertaining anyway. (Chris Hartley, 6/28/04)
