1968 - 132m.

Young housewife Mia Farrow and her actor husband move into a new expensive apartment building. All seems well until her nosy old neighbours start showing up. Then after she manages to get pregnant it slowly starts to unravel that maybe her elderly fellow tenants aren't what they seem and that her baby isn't "normal".

Excellent horror/suspenser based on Ira Levin's novel is fairly subtle in its horror delivery which just helps make it an engrossing, thoughtful and interesting film. Director/screenwriter Polanski proves to everyone he's a talented director and is backed-up with a good cast of actors, including Ruth Gordon who won a best supporting actress nod for her work.

Never seems as long as it is and has a few moments of disturbingly surreal imagery this is one of the most intelligent horror films ever made. And to think it was produced by gimmick-king William Castle.

Followed in 1976 by the obscure telefilm Look What's Happened To Rosemary's Baby which isn't available on video.
