This solid package of independent horror shorts from Georgia's Dept. 13 contains three tales; firstly "The Strange Case Of Ezra Bumble" about a murdering necropheliac whos date with the new girl in the office goes wrong. It's unserious in tone with plenty of humour on hand (like the prostitute explaining her fees) with enough skin and dopeyness to work despite the fact it just ends(?!).
Second up is "Bothered" about a man having a sleepless night being haunted by a strange woman and bugged by phone calls from his estranged wife which end-up having more in common than they seem. This is a quiet and moderately effective story with a neat-o twist ending and a scene that has female lead Donna Rae Hazelwood rubbing blood all over her that's kind of eerie.
And lastly is "Homecoming" starring Barry King as a man who returns to his childhood home only to get caught-up in all sorts of supernatural goings-on. Like the second story this is quietly done and sometimes the acting feels amateurish but it works decently and has an okay twist.
Overall we have an agreeable time that along with their later effort Twisted Realities shows that director/writer Henderson and his Dept. 13 team can fashion decent anthology efforts that sport some good ideas and a lot of fun.
