2000 - 95m.

Unsucessful adaptation of Charles Busch's 1987 stage-play (he also wrote the screenplay) is a purposely cheesy spoof on Beach Party and slasher flicks that has Lauren Ambrose as a wannabe popular girl who wants to learn how to surf while having to deal with impending love, the surfers picking-on her, people getting murdered by a slasher and her mutiple personallities.

While this captures the spirit of the beach movies it's just not overly funny and has a decided lack of jokes in general.

Ambrose is engaging and fares best in her role but she's stuck in an uninspired movie that gives no feeling of enjoyment and seems too weak (and lacks laughs). Pretty weak. Thomas Gibson from TV's Dharma & Greg tries hard but no dice.

Directed By: Robert Lee King.
Written By: Charles Busch.

Starring: Lauren Ambrose, Thomas Gibson, Nicholas Brendon, Kimberley Davies.
