So-so remake of the 1978 original cult classic has lawyer turned author William Katt and private investigator Alexandra Paul having to try and stop some mutated piranha fish after they are let loose from a secret military installation.

This has hardly any of the tongue-in-cheek elements that made the original entertaining and Katt makes a fairly dull hero as well to make this unneeded remake a strictly average and routine telefilm.

Even the crimson stained waters of the finale can't rise this above ho-hum.
