Long only available in North America under the alternate title, Creepers, and only running a slim 83 minutes; thanks to the always dependable Anchor Bay we can now see the uncut version of the film (which runs 27 minutes longer and takes what was a decent film a step up).
As with most Dario Argento movies this oozes style and it's quite evident in with the effective opening death of a school girl before becoming an odd mix of telekinesis, insects and giallo elements as American girl Jennifer Connelly (a future Oscar winner in her first starring role) is sent off to a strict bording school and soon has to use her strange power over bugs to try and figure out who's been knocking off fellow students. Also on hand is Donald Pleasence in a side role as a crippled entomologist who befriends Connelly and also has a trained monkey (who'll affect the plot later on).
While there's a few somewhat muddled moments (the whole "sleepwalking" sequence for example) and the plot tends to sway in credibility at times; this is still a totally watchable time with lots of alright mood scattered throughout, Argento's always eccentrically stylized direction and a finale that not only adds some menace and has the memorable "pit" moment it also manages to bump this up a half-a-star in rating.
