1988 - 82m.

One sick little movie.

Randy Quaid, Mary Beth Hurt and Bryan Madorsky are the typical "perfect" 50's American family. Only they have a dark little secret as youngster Madorsky will soon find-out after he questions why they are always having "leftovers". Seems mom and dad are murderous cannibals.

Directorial debut for actor Bob Balaban is a campy, odd and demented horror/black comedy that has some eerie mood, some well-done messed-up imagery (like the hard in garbage disposal moment), a little bit of gore and even polka music during the suspense scenes.

Effective at making the alienation Madorsky feels being shared by the viewer with Quaid and Hurt perfectly suited (and amusing) in their roles. Quaid in fact is quite sinister.

This is a somewhat disturbing time that will certainly make you look at red meat differently. Highly recommended.
