1993 - 81m.

James Black stars in this Tempe production as a straight-laced cop who finds his world melting away into a mixture of hallucinations, zombie attacks and other weirdness when he sets-out after some drug dealers that are peddling the deadly new concoction "Ozone". He tries to hunt down the Jabba The Hut-like drug lord behind it all while trying to keep hold of his sanity.

Opening with an overdose scene that sports some cool effects (in fact most of the low-budget effects here are pretty decent save for a couple that don't really work) this builds up some okay suspense at times and is directed with style by genre veteran J.R. Bookwalter. In fact this is probably Bookwalter's best film as it has a script that has a fair share of good ideas, a lead actor (Black) who is decent in his role, a musical score that is above average and lots of eye candy to chew on.

Though the budget does show at times (such as those poorly dubbed gunshots) it doesn't really harm this as it has such a wigged-out script it stays interesting and pretty entertaining. I love those meltdown scenes with the "skin bubbles" and there's also a caged weapon fight reminiscent of Escape From New York.

Recommended and awaiting Tempe's special edition DVD treatment (and deserving of it).
