1989 - 90m.

Lisa Wilcox returns from offing Freddy in part four only to have Freddy return through her unborn child's dreams to slash his way through her new batch of "disposable" friends.

Director Hopkin's follow-up to his above average Dangerous Game is an improvement in so many ways over the previous entry. Firstly; Wilcox has become more rounded as an actress (gone are her "deer in the headlights" moments from part four), the characters are more fleshed-out (we actually like some of them this time out - whereas in part four we didn't care), the pace is quick and it's all directed with a solid style.

Sure the finale is a tad weak, there's some bad effects (like the stopmotion rotting of the food in the refridgerator and the cheesy "splitting effect") and the "in utero" scenes are weak and unneeded; but this really is an alright sequel. There's some decent moments (the "Freddy cycle" is pretty neat) and the script works hard at giving us some backstory on Freddy making this a mostly entertaining effort.

Followed by Freddy's Dead:The Final Nightmare.

Directed By: Stephen Hopkins.
Written By: Leslie Bohem.

Starring: Robert Englund, Lisa Wilcox, Kelly Jo Minter, Erika Anderson.
