Over-the-top "mad scientist" spoof stars Steve Martin as Dr. Michael Hfuhruhurr, the World's best brain surgeon who ends-up falling for Kathleen Turner when he accidently hits her with his car. Little does he realize that she's really just a money grubber who's out for his cash. Along the way he falls for a talking brain in a jar (voiced by Sissy Spacek) and has to try and figure out a way they can be together.
With tons of wacky humour, this entertaining time gives Martin (who co-wrote) the chance to ham it up bigtime and he takes full advantage. There's lots of witty laughs on hand, Turner is perfect as the "tease" wife and despite the tepid "love story" they try and make between Martin and the brain and an extremely silly finale this is a totally watchable black comedy.
Look closely and you'll see B-movie favourite Jeffrey Combs in an early role (and in one of the funniest bits of the movie involving "shaving").
The best moment here involves the identity of the "Elevator Killer". Martin and director Carl Reiner teamed-up earlier for the equally funny, The Jerk.
