Considered by his fans as one of Itallian director Lucio Fulci's weaker films this starts off in Egypt as a little girl on vacation there with her archiologist father and photographer mother is given a strange medallion from a blind lady. Meanwhile, dad is exploring an ancient tomb and ends-up losing his guide to a pit of spikes before being blinded with blue lasers to the eyes.
They head back to New York where all sorts of messy plot devices come into play such as visions, supernatural forces causing chaos and dad getting another round of blue lasers to the eyes (which cures him since they didn't want the apparent "hero" of the movie to stumble around sightless for the entire thing).
This is one boring time and if you know Fulci you know what to expect - that is tons of gore. Well, you're not going to get that here as he seems oddly restrained (which considering his other early 80's output makes you think he wanted to make a "serious" horror film) and the only real gore comes at the end and involves stuffed birds. Throw in a muddled script by Fulci regulars Elisa Briganti and Dardano Sacchetti and some really wacky dialogue (the main girls younger brother calls her a "lousy lesbian" at one point) - which I suspect is the dubbings fault.
For fans of Fulci only.
