EI Cinema is to be commended for bringing films by genre veteran Jess Franco to North America and B-horror fans are to be thrilled to see scream queen favourite Michelle Bauer working again (and spending pretty much the entire film nude no less!) but what we have here, folks, is a really sleazy erotic horror flick that you endure more than enjoy.
Franco twists the story of Frankenstein casting Lina Romay as a frustrated woman who's been having nightmares of her deceased father who becomes master to stitched-together Michelle Bauer who is overcome with lust and rage and goes on a loving and killing rampage.
Director/writer Franco hasn't made many good movies in his day and this one isn't a good movie but there is an image of Romay's father pressed-up against her apartment window that's okay and it does at times seem to want to be more than just another scummy T&A flick (Bauer's pleas near the end almost give this credibility); but it's just too packed with lots of nudity to replace what slim plot there is and Franco uses some really dated tricks (like washing-out colours) that just come across as lame.
And besides having dialogue that's hard to grasp at times due to thick accents this is also hard to watch just because of all the orgies containing wrinkled old genre pros (they border on embarassing - you feel for Bauer). Amber Newman has a small (yet very sexy) role as a stripper.
Available in both a U.S. version and a European version. Review is based on European cut.
