1992 - 91m.

Campy, though it's one-joke premise is soon tiring, flick stars Warwick Davis (who most will remember from Willow) as a nasty leprechaun who knocks-off anyone in his way when he tries to get back the pot of gold that was stolen from him. A pre-fame Jennifer Aniston and her father just happen to move into the house the leprechaun was trapped in and has to team-up with some locals to try and stop the pint-size baddie.

Now, don't get me wrong, I'm all for cheesy "monster/slasher" movies but this one is just too silly to work and it tries to throw our villian in way too many "nutty" situations (throughout the movie the lep uses a toy car, skateboard, rollerskates, a tricycle and even a wheelchair to chase people), has way too many dumb one-liners and just has limited appeal despite the amusing "pogo stick" death. However, this has to have some sort of fan following, there's no other way to explain all the sequels.

Aniston's character is annoying (but she shows more charisma than in a lot of her later pablum Hollywood movies) and you can get a nice groan when they distract the leprechaun by throwing shoes at it; but this is generally a waste of time. Director/writer Mark Jones would unsuccessfully try to top the minor "success" of this film with 1996's Rumpelskiltskin (which actually turned out better).

Followed by five sequels.
