2000 - 83m.

German director Olaf Ittenbach made an entertaining splatter flick with 1997's Premutos: Lord Of The Living Dead and here he goes somewhat "legit" (meaning he has a moderate budget and it was lensed in America) but it's too bad that none of the promise he showed on his previous film seems to have carried over.

There is a plot here, but it makes no sense and seems like a bunch of characters we care nothing about are thrown out there with little rhyme or reason. There's the two brothers who are hitchhiking across the country that are picked-up by a serial killer who's prone to seizures, the two hitmen (who are undead demons) who crack Quentin Tarantino inspired dialogue and knock-off people to apparently make them join the "Legion", a pretty waitress (Kimberly Liebe, who's cute but not cute enough to help any) who's a good demon in human form and, finally, Matthias Hues as the apparent master of it all.

Yeah, it has no flow and we're never really sure where it's going with characters that are nothing but terrible, acting that's almost as bad (those two thugs who rob the store early on are the absolute worst) and a story structure that feels messy. Plus there's not even any gore here to chew on and the final bar brawl with demons can't even add any excitement to the proceedings.

At one time I'd gladly pronounce Ittenbach as ten times better than fellow countryman Andreas Schnaas; but now I'm not so sure. Let's just hope that Ittenbach's claims of the producers cutting the film to ribbons are true (in fact he even wanted his name off the film, from what I've read).
