1973 - 86m.

Slyly made faux pas docu-drama/horror about the small town of Fouke, Arkansas and the apparently "true" tales of residents of being terrorized by a sasquatch-like creature that lives in the nearby swamps.

A big drive-in hit in its day (especially with younger kids who could finally see a "horror" movie) this is mildly effective capturing its documentary look with grainy filmstock and non-actors; but the chaotically silly finale and the fact the second half is mostly creature attacks sort of mess-up the "ruse" the filmmakers set-out to do.

Loosely structured and leisurely paced; but worth seeing at least once for interests sake.

Followed by Return To Boggy Creek and one other sequel.
