1977 - 95m.

Old fashioned drive-in fare stars William Shatner as the vet of a small Arizona town who finds all the local livestock being killed off by some mean-spirited tarantulas. He brings in the help of big city entomologist Tiffany Bolling and soon they're up to their ears in spiders when the eight-legged creatures start to take over the town and attack humans.

One of the better "nature run amuck" horror flicks that were common in the 70's this is a completely pleasing effort that almost plays like an above average TV movie, has a likeable cast (Shatner shows good charisma), has a script filled with good banter and manages to pull off tons of okay thrills in the final third.

Director John "Bud" Cardos handles the material well, the music score works for me (it's so 70's - but appropriate at the same time) and there's enough memorable moments (such as the "bi-plane attack") to make this a recommended time for someone looking for a campy "killer insect" movie.
