2000 - 72m.

Another "Urban" themed effort from Full Moon (released under their "Big City Pictures" banner) this one is played for laughs and is just another low-budget attempt to start a franchise based around a Freddy Krueger-like baddie.

Killjoy is the title baddie, a demonic trash-talking clown who's summoned by a constantly picked-on guy and heads-out to kill of the gang members three years after they've killed off his summoner. He proceeds to drag them all into alternate realities, kill them off, and crack a slew of one-liners.

Despite the fact this only runs a mere 72 minutes including credits it takes half its running time to get to the point and despite having alright make-up effects, a good amount of skin (which is lacking in a lot of slasher movies lately), and Angel Vargas having oodles of fun as the baddie it eventually rusn out of steam in the finale when the script tries to introduce an "old man seer" character (to explain the plot) and the acting (which up to this point wasn't overly bad) goes downhill quick as the cast seems to forget how to read their lines convincingly and show any emotional range.

Generally, Killjoy, isn't an awful movie - it's just too thin and forgettable.

Followed by two sequels. (Chris Hartley, 11/16/04)
