2000 - 80m.

Strong debut for writer/director Zachary Hansen is a quiet character study that focuses on Joe (played perfectly by George Foster) a lonely guy who when not studying for classes and doing all the monotonous things in his life is off serial killing people. Along comes Christina Kew as his love interest who brings some joy into his otherwise boring life but still can't help him escape from the insanity buried deep in his brain.

At its core this is a romance movie driven by its characters but it's also a strong portrait of a schizophrenic man with above average acting by the two leads, an unsettling flashback to a past murder by Foster and a great portrayal of the "boredom" inherent in most people's lives.

It's not an entertaining movie, that is for sure; but thanks to an engrossing script (which is purposely slower paced), steady production and good cast this rises to the level of some of the best serial killer films such as Henry:Portrait Of A Serial Killer and the recent Dahmer.

Recommended.
