1975 - 124m.

This excellent horror flick was the first movie in history to gross over one hundred million dollars.

On the small island of Amity people start getting attacked by a gigantic great white shark. So it's up to Sheriff Brody (Roy Scheider), ornery sailor Quint (Robert Shaw) and oceanologist Richard Dreyfuss to try and capture and/or kill the smart-witted shark.

Begins with the strains of John Williams now classic musical score and turns into a very smartly written, well crafted, strongly acted and quite suspenseful time.

Plenty of tense moments for fans. The breakthrough hit for director Spielberg who's gone on to make most of the top-grossing films of all-time.

Followed by three sequels.
