1964 - 83m.
Britain

Hammer production has a mythology based script as the town of Vandorf cowers in fear at a series of murders over five years that have the victim being turned to stone. Along to investigate come Richard Pasco and Christopher Lee who find it may be the work of a snake-headed Gorgon and that local doctor Peter Cushing may also have a hand in the proceedings.

Leisurely paced and a tad colourless; this is still a watchable time with busy director Fisher (who helmed many Hammer productions) creating some good atmosphere and a couple of mysterious moments.

Steadily acted and done well enough, this is a bland, but generally decent effort.

Directed By: Terence Fisher.
Written By: John Gilling.
