2003 - 11m.

Probably the first movie based on an article on an on-line gaming site (a column by Dave "Fargo" Kosak on gamespy.com) this comedic, tongue-in-cheek short film has Jeremy Young as a guy who comes into possession of a video game controlling glove (which is really just a Powerglove that's been modified) which it turns out may just be a tool of Satan and has a life of its own.

Made with energy and good visual sense by director/co-writer Mark Walling this has some really cool "retro gaming" flavoured opening credits, hammy acting, decent glove effects by Aaron Nanto, a killer soundtrack by Satovan and a great professional look to the production.

In fact an expanded version of this would be great but as is it's a good example of what can be done with not much money, digital video and computer software. Plus the DVD package is the best I've seen yet for a production such as this.

DVD INFORMATION

Picture Ratio: Full Frame.

Picture Quality: It's all good here with good clarity and no flaws evident.

Extras: Loaded. Beer & Smokes Films really put a lot of love into this. There's a commentary track by Walling and Nanto, a "making of" montage that's short but fun, six deleted scenes, fx test shots, an "animatic storyboard" featurette that is very cool (it's almost like a "comic book" version of the movie), a still gallery, outtakes and a teaser trailer. They've put more extras forth for a short film than most big-budget feature length movies do!
