Those hand puppet-looking Ghoulies return for this harmless sequel that has them reeking all sorts of havoc in the haunted house ride at a struggling carnival. This is great for the owners of the ride (who are threatened with firing if business doesn't pick-up; which it does) but bad for anyone else once the Ghoulies become mean-spirited and start to kill people.
It's cheap thrills abounds with Ghoulies that are still cartoony but look a little better than before, more character development than the original (more Ghoulies too!) and a more lightweight feeling to the whole proceedings.
Gets back to its Gremlins rip-off roots when the Ghoulies start-up on their carnival hijinks that amuse even if they are low-scale (such as the shooting gallery moment).
Dopey follow-up is better than the first but not for anyone but fans of such cheese as this. Phil Fondacaro (a midget actor you'll recognize from countless films and TV shows) makes a good impression as the Shakespeare wannabe actor who's stuck running after people in a cheap monster costume. Have to say I like the cat looking Ghoulie best.
