This is one of those slasher movies that I saw the video box as a kid and always wanted to see. Well, when I finally did I wasn't that impressed.
Tobe Hooper directs this filming of the Dean Koontz novel (that he wrote under a pseudonym) that has a group of teens who go to the carnival and decide to get stoned and party in the funhouse. Soon their fun turns into a nightmare as they are stalked and killed by the deformed son of a carny.
Opening with an in-joke "through the eyes naked shower kill" moment this soon becomes a little tedious as the kids are warned by an old bag lady (visions of Ralph in Friday The 13th) only for all the horror elements to be quite absent in the first half (in fact not much happens at all).
It's not all for naught as this is decently shot by Hooper, has a decent axe moment and sports a fine peformance by Kevin Conway (as the killer's abusive father) but this just fails to have any suspense, treads too closely to slasher movie conventions and has a killer with such a poor make-up job it just can't rise above dull.
