1991 - 84m.

Low-budget (and it shows) horror flick based on a mostly unknown comic book has some hunters out in the snowy wilderness accidently killing an old man who's been guarding a gateway that will unleash a demon called the "Wendingo".

Well guess what happens next as the hunters hole-up in a cabin and are witness to many Evil Dead-like goings-on eventually ending with an okay rampage by the stop-motion demon.

Troma released this one and even though it feels woefully lame and packed with tacky effects it somehow manages to be watchably dopey and at times fun. Michigan-shot stuff plays like the effort was there behind the camera but it falls victim to a script that's a jumble of ideas and the aforementioned really low production values.

However at least we can dig an okay animated skeleton, the fact the cabin's outside has completely blue windows (sound stage? I think so), a feeble-looking flying creature that bites a head-off, hammy acting, the monsters who pop-out of a pot of chili and a mostly inappropriate soundtrack that even manages to drown out the dialogue at times.

Good for fans of junky cinema and it'll leave you humming the "Chili" song for a couple days after (yes I was walking around going "Chili...no onions...no peppers...just Chili...").
