1984 - 91m.

Fourth entry in the highly popular slasher series was supposed to be the so-called "finale" of the films only for six (!) sequels to follow.

Opening with the typical flashback this takes-up right where part three left off with Jason being carted to the morgue supposedly dead only for him to come back and go on another killing spree of conviently placed party hungry teens. It's up to monster mask making, electronics geek ten-year-old Tommy Jarvis (played by Corey Feldman) to try and stop him.

The best thing this movie has going for it is the fact Tom Savini returned to do make-up duty (he wanted the chance to give Jason a bravura send-off) and the fact director Joseph Zito knows how to make a slasher movie; but it suffers from slow down a bit more than other entries, has a bit dull of a mid-section and a finale that's laughable (despite a cool "machete slide" moment).

Pretty routine stuff but there is a cool hacksaw death, a harpoon gun in the genitals that's pretty rockin' and always weird Crispin Glover not only doing an unintentionally hilarious dance scene but getting knocked-off real good by Jason.

Skirts a * 1/2 at times but it could've been worse (such as the sequel after this was).
