1976 - 88m.

Weak "nature-runs-amuck" entry supposedly based on an H.G. Wells story has a bunch of people on a remote island being attacked by oversized wasps and rats that have been eating a liquid substance dubbed the "food of the gods" by a local farmer.

Tiresome, poorly acted and with really lousy effects (mostly just unconvincing minatures and projection photography) this is a useless and tedious waste of time.

Director/writer/producer/special effects creator Gordon seemed to have a facination with oversized animals because the year after this he made the equally dismal (but more ineptly amusing) Empire Of The Ants.

Followed by Gnaw:Food Of The Gods II.

Directed By: Bert I. Gordon.
Written By: Bert I. Gordon.

Starring: Marjoe Gortner, Pamela Franklin, Ida Lupino, Jon Cypher.
