1983 - 81m.

Another "deep woods" slasher flick and not quite as bad as most of them turned out to be.

Off for the weekend on a camping trip/environmental clean-up, a bunch of twenty-something guys and girls start getting killed by a "mountainman"-ish killer. Soon they find a grisly shack filled with body parts and they end up fighting for their lives as they try to stay alive out in the middle of nowhere.

Survival horror from director Andrew Davis (who'd go on to direct such action hits as Under Seige and The Fugitive) is mostly known today for featuring Daryl Hannah, Rachel Ward, Adrian Zmed and the always dependable character actor Joe Pantoliano (who's the best thing here as a high-strung co-worker) in roles.

Despite the fact that none of the characters are particularly likeable, some of the scenes are a bit too darkly lit and the finale is a little weak (one character is hopped-up on mushrooms for some reason) this is steadily directed by Davis who gives this some okay mood and it's at least watchable. Check out those dopey opening murders (the acting is really bad, it's good the trend didn't continue) for a pretty cool "tin can branches" moment.
