1999 - 93m.

What ever happened to straight-forward, dumbly plotted slasher movies? Why do modern movies insist on trying to cram in as much plot as they can to an admittedly "not too deep" premise?

Writer/director Serge Rodnunsky tries to fill the first fifteen minutes of this with as much as he can (a car crash, a monster, gore and some "folklore" from a local Native Indian) before getting down to the basic story of a bunch of high school kids heading off to the mountains with teacher Stacey Keach (who along with Billy Dee Williams is really only here for name recognition) only to fall victim to what appears to be a sasquatch. Things get all sloppy from there as our main character (played by the cute Suzanne Davis) starts having all sorts of flashbacks, the script tries to throw in an odd "child molestation" angle and the ending gets extremely confusing (where did all these other "sasquatches" come from?!) with a shitty finale.

After it's all said and done we have to wonder "what's the point?" because what could've been an at least watchable standard "teens getting killed in the woods" flick becomes a movie that's ambition overcomes its real worth. Plus that creature really isn't that menacing...
