The year is 1998 and the Earth is your usual apolocyptic wasteland ravaged by battles and acid rain storms. It's during one of these storms that some deserter Army soldiers (led by Ken Abraham and including genre favourite Linnea Quigley, who has a shower scene for all of you that are wondering) hide-out in a deserted underground lab. Soon they start getting killed by an Alien-like mutant creature while having to deal with giant rats and (in a finale that harkens back to It's Alive) a mutant infant.
Packed with B-movie elements and a set-up that's completely by the book; this effort from genre pro DeCoteau plays agreeably and entertains if you don't take it seriously.
Quigley and her aforementioned shower liven things up and there's some okay gooey meltdowns on hand to make you forgive the low-budget effects that include the cheesy rat and a title beast that looks rubbery.
Recommended for a night of cheap thrills even if the demon baby finale goes on too long. The score by Guy Moon is totally 80's cool.
