1992 - 93m.

First of six sequels (so far) is a good progression of the original (whereas all the sequels would just take the basic premise) as the bodies of all the Gatlin adults are found and the children shipped off to a neighbouring town to be taken care of by the adults over there. Soon they're back to their killing, corn God worshipping ways and it's up to tabloid reporter Terence Knox to try and stop the murderous youngsters (that his rebellious son has gotten himself mixed-up in also).

Entertaining enough sequel plays fine thanks to a script that has a wry sense of humour that shows through ocassionally (such as the homage to Wizard Of Oz that has a woman crushed by a house's last words being, "Whatta World...whatta World...") and some pretty cool deaths (the best being the morbid "face meltdown" at the Church sermon). While the finale is a tad sloppy and some of the effects are so-so (such as the "lightning" fx) this is still one of the better entries in this mediocre series.

Ryan Bollman does well as Micah, the new leader of the children, even though his yelling and screaming gets a bit grating by the end of the film.
