1988 - 82m.
Indonesia

This is a perfect midnight movie. Filled with horrible dialogue, cheesy music, explosions, nudity, guns, and gore, it has to be seen to be believed. I have heard many times over the years how spectacularly gratuitous this flick is in respect to gunfire but I was not prepared for just exactly what was in store when I popped this bad boy in. Sure, it is poorly written and shot but they obviously had a bit of a budget as a lot of stuff blows up and there are a lot of squibs going off as this lady terminates everything in her path. Clearly an Indonesian rip-off of The Terminator, we get all of the scenes you would expect including an attempted assassination in a nightclub and mass carnage in a police station. As badass as Arnie was in the original, this chick is even more intense. At one point, she not only unloads a machine gun into some dude who is lying on the ground but she kicks him in the balls as she is walking away.

The movie opens with a prologue set over 100 years ago where the insatiable South Sea Queen is having trouble finding a lover who can satisfy her. This may be because she maims and kills them with her vagina that is either filled with eels or knives or eels that turn into knives. At any rate, men so not survive when they enter her dragon. As she is eating grapes and pondering her lack of satisfaction, a stud in white shows up. When they are getting it on, he grabs one of the eels that comes out of her nether regions and holds it triumphantly. This insults her and she swears revenge on his great-granddaughter. Fast forward to the 80s and we are introduced to Tanya, an anthropologist who is investigating the legend of the South Sea Queen. Her travels lead her to the South Seas (obviously) where she is caught in a storm and inexplicably ends up tied to a bed where she is violated by a snake/eel and possessed by the Queen. She is then transported to the beach where she emerges from the water naked and proceeds to kill a couple of punks while having sex with them. She steals their clothes and begins to obsessively stalk a pop star who is being protected by an inept blonde cop dude. The rest of the film consists of Lady Terminator chasing the pair and blasting anyone who gets in the way.

Honestly, I do not know how to do this film justice. You need to grab a six pack and some buddies and check this out. There is so much cheese going on in this flick that I thought Kraft Dinner may come out of my DVD player. Some highlights include a mulleted Indian stoner named Snake, a sex scene with inexplicable cutaways to ferns, horrible 80s music, laser beam eyes, a bar fight, and some of the weirdest dialogue you will experience. We also get tons of references to The Terminator (including a cop character saying "come with me if you want to live", eyeball surgery, and the deformed version of the unstoppable killing machine arising after being blown up in a truck). Star Barbara Anne Constable looks badass in leather and also looks great in a bikini or when she is not wearing anything at all. She is great at referring to herself as an anthropologist a number of times including a classic line where she states "I'm not a lady, I'm an anthropologist".

Lady Terminator has been building a cult reputation since its initial release and has since enjoyed a resurgence in 2004 when Mondo Macabro gave it the DVD treatment. This is a great party flick and would be a good double feature with Showgirls if you are looking for ridiculous dialogue, gratuitous nudity, and everything that a cult movie should be. It is a shame that Constable did not make more movies as she would have been right at home in an Andy Sidaris flick. If you are looking for a serious, well constructed "film", this will anger you but if you are hankering for wall to wall mayhem and a better mullet than Billy Ray Cyrus and Van Damme in Hard Target combined, this flick does not disappoint.
