Factory 2000 is a company that has been churning out exploitation movies since the late 90's. Founder Bill Hellfire usually handles the writing and directing duties of these low-budget cheapies that, in a way, harken back to the roughies of the early 70's. Most of the films produced by Factory 2000 contain scenes of women in distress and there are almost always a variety of lesbian erotic scenes as well as the occasional scenes of strangulation and chloroforming. Those of you familiar with the Wave Video titles in the 90's will feel as though Hellfire is following in their footsteps with Misty Mundae replacing the likes of Pamela Sutch and Tina Krause. Mundae made a name for herself with the Factory 2000 titles and Flesh For Olivia marks her final performance with the small company before moving on to Seduction Cinema. She has since changed her name to Erin Brown and is currently making an attempt at a legitimate career in horror films that do not require quite so much flesh.
Flesh For Olivia is the sequel to Silk Stocking Strangler (also starring Mundae), which I have not seen but I suspect it is more of the same. Mundae stars as Olivia, a drifter who is forced to please her pimp by performing lesbian acts in front of him. These acts climax with Olivia strangling her partner at the point of orgasm which frequently results in the partner's death. This is really just a thin excuse to have a number of sex scenes featuring Mundae and various other women while incorporating Hellfire's signature strangulation scenes. The plot thickens ever so slightly when the roommate (Julian Wells) of Olivia's latest victim (A.J. Khan) comes home to investigate her disappearance only to be seduced by Olivia and get naked.
There is obviously a market for this kind of thing as is evidenced by the number of releases from Factory 2000 and Wave Video. I don't really get what the appeal is of seeing women getting strangled but it is obviously out there. Whether it is just a twisted, yet innocent, fetish or if Hellfire and company are catering to a bunch of sociopaths is unknown to me but I don't personally get much out of this. If I want to see Mundae or co-stars Wells, Khan, or Cherry (aka. Zoe) Moonshine writhe around in their birthday suits, I would much prefer to watch a Seduction Cinema title. At least those movies are fun in their silliness. The Factory 2000 films that I have seen are just not my thing as they have a bit of a mean spirit to them that takes away any erotic appeal. It's a shame that Hellfire continues to do this type of movie as his take on the Columbine shootings entitled Duck! The Carbine High Massacre showed some potential as a dramatic filmmaker and also showed that he wasn't afraid to tackle difficult and controversial subjects.
Technically, this movie looks cheap as it was shot on video and takes place for the most part in two locations. There isn't a lot of style going on here aside from Hellfire at times bringing to mind softcore auteur Nick Phillips in the tone of some of the sex scenes. Although most of the film involves the girls rolling around naked, I found Mundae to be somewhat convincing in her role and Julian Wells to be the most visually appealing of the cast (although she looks a little tired for most of the film). We get a total of seven or eight sex scenes involving various combinations of the stars including a few rematches. I think that all things considered, my favorite aspect of this film was the super sleazy DVD cover featuring Mundae looking like a really bad schoolgirl flashing her white panties. If Richard Kern was the photographer on one those Calvin Klein ads from the 90's that created a ruckus due to the fact that the models looked underage, this is probably what one of the shots would have come out like.
