1959 - 71m.

Another Roger Corman produced rush job (and it never feels like anything but) this is a quickly strung-together story of some criminal types (led by Richard Dreyfuss looking Frank Wolff) who head off to a remote ski lodge under the guise of a vacation when really all they want to do is steal some gold bars. Soon however they're slowly picked-off by a tentacled, spider-like monster that lives in a cave nearby.

This mixture of a heist movie and creature feature isn't all bad thanks to okay acting by most of the cast (especially Wolff; though Wally Campo annoys as an incompetent and overly goofball thug), a music score that goes from jazzy to "spooky" and some amusing beatnik-ish dialogue at times; but don't get me wrong this isn't anything more than a quickly produced drive-in flick that's too talky with so-so staged monster attacks (and a monster than looks like someone wrapped in a blanket covered in moss) and an overly abrupt ending.

For 50's monster movie fans only.
