Merry "Axe"-Mas
Some people dream of a white Christmas, here at The Video Graveyard we dream of a "blood red" Christmas.
Another major holiday rears it's commerical-head. It's the time of year that we all group together to hand-off gifts we can't really afford to people we don't really like.
Lucky (or unlucky depending on your viewpoint) for us horror fans, out of all the "holiday massacre" movies Christmas offers the most for your buck.
So be naughty this year, scream out "Bah Humbug!" and check out some of the titles below:

Bob Clark's 1974 Canadian flick is considered probably the earliest slasher flick that used the "through the eyes" shot. As for the story watch as some sorority girls are killed by a murderer who's calling on the phone...and somewhere in the house.
While it's not the greatest it's still a good effort with decent acting and some cool deaths. |
| Little did I know when I popped in this 1980 gem that it'd turn out to be an intelligent, strongly written and well-acted psychological horror. Here I was expecting a routine slasher flick that might, if I was lucky, have a couple of amusing murders, but what I got was this engrossing tale of a toy factory worker who slowly loses his sanity and dishes out punishment to the "naughty" ones. |

After I saw this I felt like I'd recieved a fruitcake from one of my distant aunts, it was stale, it left a bad taste in my mouth and I wanted my money back dammit!
Pretty feeble slasher/mystery has a Scotland yard detective trying to catch a killer who's murdering Santa-suit wearing schmucks, and I swear if it wasn't for the "additional scenes" (hence gory murders) I'd of turned it off. |
| Sometimes video boxes can be decieving. For best example look at the box for Elves. It's got a monsterous elf clawing his way out of a Christmas present under the tree while the tagline screamed "They're Not Working For Santa Anymore".
Thing is they never did work for him, they're the doing of a Nazi doctor. Oh and did I mention the movie is really rotten? |

Picketed when first released by angry parents (considering it's TV commercial aired during Saturday morning cartoons) this tells the tale of a young schizo in a Santa suit murdering again and again.
This is a mindlessly fun slasher flick that has the infamous scene where "Scream Queen" Linnea Quigley is impaled on deer antlers. Followed by four sequels, none of them really able to match this. |
But if you're sick of seeing It's A Wonderful Life, A Christmas Carol and the various other holiday feel-good fare this year any of the above films will be sure to satisfy the Scrooge in you.
So be naughty.
